Attend the Tavern Square Art Fair on May 17 in Old Town Alexandria

This year of the Old Town Calendar is Todd Healy's 39th edition.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Kismet Modern Indian and made in ALX, the Alexandria art collective, are hosting the Tavern Square Art Fair on Saturday, May 17. This new event will take place in Old Town. More than adozen artists will appear. Participate in interactive activies such as live portraits, cookie decorating, a charm bar, origami, and face painting.

“The unique centerpiece of the event will be the opportunity for attendees to participate in a community art project, where each participant will receive a 4×4-inch individual canvas to paint,” according to a press release. “The theme for the community art project is ‘The Best Thing About Living Here.’ All ages can participate. The canvases will be displayed at Made in ALX from late May through Alexandria’s Birthday Celebration on July 13, 2025.”

The Tavern Square Art Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. IN the courtyard behind Made in ALX and Kismet Modern Indian. The area is accessible from the 400 block of King or Cameron streets, or the 100 blocks of North Pitt or North Royal streets.

The event and community art project are sponsored by Williams Professional Painting.
