ALEXANDRIA, VA-Edith Hawkins, a former employee of the Campagna Center, will return as its CEO. She will succeed Dr. Tammy Mann, who gave a farewell speech at the Center’s 80th anniversary celebration last Friday night.

“I am honored to serve as the next President and CEO of Campagna Center—an organization that has long stood as a beacon of opportunity and support in Alexandria,” Hawkins said in a statement. “This mission is deeply personal to me. I’m grateful for the chance to build on Dr. Mann’s incredible legacy and I look forward to working with our dedicated board, staff, families, and partners to expand access, elevate community voices, and ensure every child and family has what they need to thrive.”

She was the nonprofit’s first chief program officer from 2014 to 2022. During her first tenure, she established partnerships with ACPS, RPCA, and other nonprofits. She left to serve as the executive vice president at the Forum for Youth Investment.

Hawkins begins her new role on June 2. Mann, who has held the position for more than a decade, announced her plan to retire last fall.

According to Campagna Center data, it served 2,495 people in as recently as two years ago. The nonprofit focuses on education and social development
