ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Alexandria Choral Society (ACS) is setting the stage for an unforgettable international journey with a celebratory send-off concert, To the Road, on Saturday, June 14 at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (100 W. Luray Ave., #2032). The performance will mark the ensemble’s final stateside appearance before embarking on a cultural tour of Ireland and Scotland, including a special stop in Alexandria’s sister city, Dundee.

The evening will feature a rich and varied program reflecting the choir’s upcoming destinations, including works by Mendelssohn, Renaissance master Thomas Tallis, and celebrated American composer Alice Parker. Audiences will also hear music rooted in Irish and Scottish folk traditions, alongside a piece by Alexandria’s own B.E. Boykin, offering a heartfelt nod to the community the choir calls home.

More than a musical performance, the upcoming tour is a celebration of hared love for choral music and a chance for the ACS to connect with their roots, their sister city, and audiences across the Atlantic.

Following the Alexandria performance, the choir will travel abroad to perform in prestigious venues including St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, a historic and iconic site of Scottish cultural life.

Tickets for To the Road are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a suggested donation of $30, ensuring accessibility for all. Reservations can be made online at alexandriachoralsociety.org/to-the-road.

Founded in 1970, the Alexandria Choral Society has a long-standing reputation for musical excellence and community engagement. Under Harsha’s direction, the choir continues to champion new works, such as last year’s premiere of You Birth the Seeds by composer Melissa Dunphy, in collaboration with Alexandria’s former Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam.

As the group prepares to carry Alexandria’s artistic spirit overseas, this concert invites local audiences to be part of the journey—no passport required.
