ALEXANDRIA, VA – New changes are coming! The Alexandria Library is excited to announce the launch of its new and improved online catalog system, powered by Innovative Clarivate. This enhanced integrated library system (ILS) will go live on Monday, August 19, offering a more user-friendly and efficient experience for both patrons and staff.

To ensure a smooth transition, all Alexandria library branches will be closed on Tuesday, August 19.

The new catalog is designed to make exploring the library’s extensive collection—including books, audiobooks, DVDs, and more—easier than ever. New features include:

  • Unified Title Display: View all available formats of a title (print, digital, audio) in one convenient place.
  • Series Information: Quickly find out if a book is part of a series, view the complete reading order, and browse cover images.
  • Personalized Recommendations: Discover new favorites through the “You May Also Like” section, which suggests similar authors, titles, and series based on your interests.
  • Saved Searches: Save specific searches to your account, making it easy to revisit and track new releases from your favorite authors or topics.
  • Enhanced Children’s Book Details: Parents and young readers can now access Lexile measures, Accelerated Reader (AR) scores, and recommended age and grade levels.

Please note that some minor service interruptions may occur during the system migration. Full details on service updates and new catalog features are available at alexlibraryva.org/catalog-upgrade.
