Enormous Cultural Food Festival Returns to Alexandria’s Waterfront

Over 150 traditional food items from 24 countries, plus singing, dancing, and products offered from more than 110 ethnic artisans and crafters!

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Around the World Cultural Food Festival, the largest outdoor cultural food festival in the Washington D.C. metro area, is returning for its eighth edition on Saturday, August 24th. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the picturesque Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town Alexandria, featuring an even greater array of ethnic food vendors, artisans, crafters, and traditional performances than in previous years.

This festival offers an immersive experience. Attendees can savor authentic traditional foods from various cultures while enjoying a vibrant folk show with singers and dancers from around the globe.

“This year, we are offering a unique opportunity to our patrons- a one-day trip around the world, where they can immerse themselves in the cuisine, culture, and traditions of nearly fifty (50) countries,” say event organizers.

With only one ethnic food vendor per country, visitors can explore over one hundred fifty (150) traditional food items from twenty-four (24) countries. In addition to the culinary delights, there will be folk dances and performances from 12 countries and a wide selection of goods from over one hundred ten (110) ethnic artisans and crafters, independent consultants, small businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Admission to the festival is free, with plenty of food and beverages available for purchase.

The festival will specifically showcase ethnic cuisine from Cambodia, China, Egypt, Greece, Guyana, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Palestine, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Vietnam, and the United States of America. It will also feature an array of empanadas from Argentina, El Salvador, Jamaica, Mexico, and Peru, as well as delicious desserts from France, Japan, Vietnam, and much more.

“Our festival will be a celebration of global culture, with traditional dance performances featuring artists representing Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Ukraine, Scotland, and Turkey,” says Chic Events DC.

Artisanal items will be available from Angola, Armenia, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Colombia, El Salvador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Scotland, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Turkey, the United States of America, and more.

The mission of the Around The World Cultural Food Festival is to create a cultural and educational experience like no other in the DMV in which participating exhibitors are encouraged to present the most traditional items from their countries.
