ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Alexandria Health Department (AHD) announced this morning that two flu shot clinics will be held in the near future. The first is a drive-through clinic at T.C. Williams High School (3330 King Street on Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The second is a walk-up clinic at Frances C. Hammond Middle School (4646 Seminary Road) on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

AHD encourages people to receive the shot because many influenza and COVID-19 symptoms are similar.

The flu vaccine will be available at no cost. Proof of residency and insurance are not required. The drive-through is open to those 12 years or older. AHD requests only four people per car. The walk-up is available to those six months or older. There will be parking at Hammond for this clinic.

Participants are required to wear a mask and maintain a distance of six feet around others. AHD advises not attending the clinics if sick, even with mild symptoms. To complete paperwork, they ask individuals to bring their own pens to avoid sharing objects with others.

These clinics will help the community by allowing medical staff to vaccinate many people in a field setting, which will be essential when a COVID-19 vaccine is released.
