Capital Harmonia will be hosting their 3rd Annual Women’s Choral Festival on Sunday March 11, 4-6pm at Community of Faith United Methodist Church in Herndon, VA.
Capital Harmonia will be performing Anne Frank-A Living Voice which was commissioned by The San Francisco Girl’s Chorus and composed by Linda Tutas Haugen in 2004. Ms. Haugen’s website describes the piece as follows: An emotional tour de force, this multi-movement work is based on selected excerpts from The Diary of Anne Frank. Spanning more than two years of hiding in the annex, the texts and music portray a psychological progression from fear and despair to strength and hope. This moving work for women’s choir includes lyrical vocal lines, lush harmonies, and strong string quartet writing. The piece has seven movements and a run time of 28 minutes. It is the first half of the festival program performed by both Capital Harmonia and the Madiera School Glee Club and a string quartet to be followed by an intermission and then separate performances by the Madeira School Glee Club and Capital Harmonia.
