ALEXANDRIA, VA – For more than 30 years, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA) has raised money to help Alexandria students go to college. By way of an emergency appeal, they are asking for financial support from the community during this difficult time.

The opportunity to continue education is a dream for countless high school graduates. The SFA helps students, who in many cases, would not have the resources to attend college otherwise.

This group includes students who live at or below poverty level. A Zebra Press article from July 14, 2020 reported that 64 percent of T.C. Williams High School students fall into that category.  A statement released by the SFA earlier today said those experiencing poverty have been “hardest hit by COVID-19.”

This year saw a record number of scholarship applications submitted. 488 students applied, Renewal scholarship applications rose by 25 percent.

“These figures paint a picture of great need in our community, but also of great promise,” the statement reads.

The SFA has a $75,000 goal. To make an impact on the future, donate HERE.
