Alexandria’s “Love Your Pet Day” Block Party Was a Barking Good Time

The City of Alexandria and Mayor Allison Silberberg  proclaimed Sunday, April 29 as Alexandria Love Your Pet Day and held a bustling block party at Roth and Colvin Streets off Duke Street.

For this second year, founding sponsors, Wholistic Hound Academy, along with VCA Alexandria Animal HospitalFrolick Dogs, and Pinnacle Pet Spa & More welcomed additional patrons, DogtopiaShelley Castle PhotographyAlexandria Library and Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

The event kicked off at 11 am in the big parking lot with Mayor Allison Silberberg high on the presenting loading dock turned stage reading the proclamation and welcoming hundreds of guests and vendors.

Down below, in the parking area, members of the Chesapeake Rock N Rovers, Barbara ZeigerIngrid Putschi, and Susan Brogan showcased their musical freestyle skills with canine performers, Rex, Elsie and Charmine.

Inside there were exciting demonstrations dog agility fun and canine fitness, ‘ask the trainer’ and an enrichment station with Dolores Murray, as well as the puppy ball pool and everything puppy with Lael O’Shaughnessy.
