Extreme Heat Cancels ‘First Thursday’ in Del Ray; Hopes High Donations Will Still Be Made

ALEXANDRIA, VA – In a short note issued by the Del Ray Business Association on Wednesday afternoon, it was announced that “due to extreme heat, First Thursday: Red, White and Blue, scheduled for July 18, will be cancelled.”

Severe thunderstorms had already postponed the annual patriotic celebration for the first two Thursdays in July.

 “First Thursdays” are always earmarked for specific fundraising causes and July’s featured non-profit is the Friends of Rocky Versace an incredible organization that honors our veterans year-round, and is currently raising money to complete renovations to the Alexandria Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located at the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center.
