ACT for Alexandria Hosting Racial Equity Forum June 9 and 10

ALEXANDRIA, VA-On June 9 and 10, ACT for Alexandria will host the IMPACT Racial Equality Forum. This virtual event will give those in attendance the opportunity to discuss how to increase equity in Alexandria.

A press release describes the two-day forum as a chance “to learn, connect, and commit.”

Various city leaders will be present. Scheduled speakers include Alexandria Black History Museum Director Audrey P. Davis, City Historian Dr. Daniel Lee, and Race and Social Equity Officer Jaqueline Tucker.

The keynote speaker is Nisha G. Patel. She is a national expert on social and economic mobility and philanthropy. Her speech is titled ““What Would it Take to Dramatically Increase Mobility from Poverty?”

Breakout sessions will focus on topics such as the history of race and racism in Alexandria, and changing the narrative of poverty.

The forum will conclude with a discussion by attendees about ways to work toward racial equity personally, professionally, and within the community.

The cost to attend is $35 for both days. The forum starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. each day. To register, click HERE.
