The Royal is Back on St. Asaph in Alexandria on April 11, 2024

The long-time North Old Town restaurant looks better than ever!

Alexandria, VA  The Royal Restaurant, a long time fixture on St. Asaph has been reborn. The Royal Restaurant was opened 118 years ago. Charlie Euripides bought the restaurant in 1957, and after his death, the family sold the restaurant to Alexandria Restaurant Partners last year.

ARP has refurbished and updated the interior and added a patio seating 56. The counter in the original part of the restaurant has become a full service bar. The beverage menu features beer, wine, and mixed drinks including cocktails designed for the restaurant.

The menu has been updated too. Many of your favorites are still on the menu and have some new twists. Breakfast is served until 4 pm daily and includes a variety of omelets, biscuits and gravy, eggs, waffles, and pancakes. An All Day Brunch highlights crispy fried chicken, egg enchiladas, and house-smoked brisket hash. As of right now, there are no plans to bring back the Saturday and Sunday brunch.

Sandwiches are available all day and include modernized versions of old favorites including a “Club Sandwich” Torta, the Meatloaf Melt, and the Royal Smashburger. Dinner items also includes much loved favorites including Prime Brisket Meatloaf, Grilled Salmon, and Braised Lamb Shanks. Vegetarians will enjoy Braised Cauliflower, Roasted Vegetable Torta, and a variety of salads and starters.

Come on by and see for yourself how much the Royal has changed yet stayed the same. You’ll see many of the same staff you know from the old Royal.  Hours are 7 am to 10 pm.
