ALEXANDRIA, VA–Chefs, servers, bartenders and dishwashers from the neighborhoods of Del Ray and Old Town put down the knives and menus to pick up bats and gloves on May 8, 2018 playing in the First Annual Softball Battle.

Today the winners and losers joined sponsors and organizers at Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, 401 Braddock Road, for the official presentation of the custom-made trophy and $3,000 check benefitting ACT of Alexandria.

The trophy was made by hand for the commemoration of the event by acclaimed Torpedo Factory metallurgist and artist, Chris Erney, who conjured cutlery as his muse. The one-of-a kind keepsake “John Porter Cup” will be engraved with the 2018 winners, Del Ray, and be prominently displayed on the shelf at Lena’s until it is challenged at next year’s annual game.
