The Zebra Press Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

At The Zebra Press, people report the news. People edit the news. People are accountable for every story we publish.

We may use artificial intelligence as a production assistant—for such things as headlines, editing, SEO, captions, social-media copy, and organizing public information. But AI is never a reporter, photographer, source, or editor in charge.

Every reported story is reviewed and approved by a human editor. We do not use AI to conduct interviews, verify facts, invent or alter quotes, fabricate sources, or create deceptive images of news events.

News photographs published by The Zebra Press are authentic images of real people, places, and events. AI-assisted illustrations, cartoons, and clearly labeled social-media promotional graphics may be used when appropriate, but they are never presented as documentary news photography.

When AI use is meaningful enough that readers could reasonably be confused, we will disclose it. We welcome questions or concerns at [email protected]
