Rainbow Rock Band Raising Roof Celebrating Second Album

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The DC metro area’s beloved Rainbow Rock Band is set to raise the roof in celebration of their second album for kids and families, Total Eclipse of the Rainbow, with a joyful, exuberant family show at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 15 at Jammin’ Java, 227 Maple Ave., Vienna, VA. Since 2012, guided by the hand of singer/songwriter/educator Dr. Kate Moran (a.k.a. The Rainbow Lady), Rainbow Rock Band has been praised for its positive, high-energy music, which engages young listeners and gets them moving to an irresistible beat while also enhancing their learning and social development. Rainbow Rock Band’s thoughtful lyrics emphasize being kind to one another, as well as sharing a wonder and appreciation of the beautiful and fascinating.

Rainbow Rock Band shows are a baleful of energy from beat one, as band members The Rainbow Lady (Kate Moran), Captain Toe Tappin (Kevin de Souza), Rockin Pupstar (Brendan Biondi), Bassious Berry (Matthew Berry), Prince Pop & Walk (Ryan Walker), and Pattycake Patty (Patty Moran) keep audiences rockin’ in their socks until they just can’t bop anymore! At their album release show, Rainbow Rock Band will perform as a full band, including drums, bass, and keys, delighting young fans with many of their favorite tunes along with new songs from Total Eclipse of the Rainbow like “Crazy Cakes,” ” Sparkle Fairy,” “Sunflower,” and “Rainbow Lullaby.”

The Rainbow Rock Band experience includes audience participation on every song. In crowd favorite “Superhero,” kids become superheroes, climbing, flying, freezing, and running speedy, speedy fast. One lucky child joins the band onstage and receives a mask and cape. For “Samuel the Zoo Keep,” the band creates a zoo up front and selects a group of kids to wear animal masks while everyone dances and acts out the different animals. The high-energy “The Tale of Satchel and Lucy” gets kids running in place, twirling, hopping, wiggling, “swimming,” and finally dancing along with the verses. In “Crazy Cakes,” everyone dances and counts to ten in the song, touching the ground during the chorus while going CRAZY CAKES!! The Rainbow Lady even does a mouth trumpet during “Crazy Cakes” and teaches the kids this remarkable skill after the song.

Says Rainbow Rock Band’s Kate Moran, “Every time we get the full band together, it really completes our sound. I am super grateful to play with some of the best musicians in the DMV area, all of them active professional musicians in their own right. Together we create a really amazing show!”

Recording in Nashville’s Secret Sound Studios, producer Kurtis Parks and Kate Moran collaborated on Total Eclipse of the Rainbow to create a fun album that serves a dual purpose. Kate enthuses, “Having worked in education for over 25 years, I wanted to provide teachers with a resource to use for circle time or when they are teaching lessons on colors, numbers, animals, plants, or the weather, while also serving as a catalyst for parents to support this learning at home or in the car. My artistic vision was to create an album of beautiful songs rooted in authentic musical styles that connect with the real-life experiences of a child.”

Total Eclipse of the Rainbow will be released on September 14 and will be available at all digital retailers, including iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, CDBaby, and more.
