A Haunting Good Time Was Had By All

Tales of Terror: GOOSEBUMPS at the Duncan Library in Del Ray

Alexandria, VA — Saturday, Oct. 25, was the second and final day of the Haunted Library in Del Ray. Sponsored by the Friends of the Duncan Library and the Del Ray Citizens Association, this was the second year for the event, which raises thousands of dollars for the library.

The price was only $10 a person—surely the best bargain in the DMV—and 100 percent of the proceeds went to the library.

And it was, by turns, spooky, campy, or cute—and how you saw it likely depended mostly on age.

Library volunteers had truly transformed the library into, as promised, “a haunted maze of spooky sights and stories and eerie entertainment.”

One of the reasons we love Halloween so much, psychologists tell us, is that it is, despite the costumes and assumed characters, paradoxically real.

It requires us to turn off the TV and the computer, get out of the house, indulge our inner thespians—and get together with family and friends and neighbors and have a whole lot of goofy fun, all the while creating memories to be cherished.

And that’s something we all need more of in this perpetually tethered, digital world.

Please enjoy the photos of some of the wonderfully talented and dedicated actors who made this year’s Haunted Library a success.
