Bagels and Bach Concert Series
December 2: Showcasing Klara Farren, French Hornist with the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Orchestra along with Zsolt Balogh, pianist, University of Maryland. The duet will play lovely classical pieces that will delight audience members of all ages. What better way to enjoy a Sunday morning?

First Friday:A Season of Celebrations
December 7: Enjoy delicious music from Roumana, performing Middle Eastern music primarily, Arabic and Turkish with styles such as Balkan, Armenian, Romani, Audalusian, North African and Sephardic music. Also performing is the Russkie Musikanti Ensemble with featured music from Russia, Ukraine and Eastern European countries on traditional instruments and in costume. Want to do some holiday shopping? Visit the Pop-up Holiday Fair with items from around the world for purchase for last minute holiday gifts featuring: ‘The Africa Memory Game’ (dolls, games and trivia games); Oditex Fashion (African clothing, handbags, earrings, head ties, and more); Tracy Wilkerson (handmade greeting cards, and small works of art); and Khusha Designs (handmade journals, notecards and fine art prints).
A meet and greet begins at 6 p.m. Light refreshments available complements of the Office of the Arts. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. Children under 5 years old are free. Children must be accompanied by one adult. Reservations are $9 per person.

- ‘Building Cultural Bridges’
December 3: Whether you call yourself a poet or an artist or a human, you can write poetry!! Wendi R. Kaplan, City of Alexandria Poet Laureate, invites you to join her for her the final Monday poetry workshop ‘Building Cultural Bridges’ at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St. You are welcome to bring you favorite poet’s poetry or your poetry to read. The workshops are FREE from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m. To register, RSVP at [email protected]. - Teen Poetry Circle Reading
December 17: Come celebrate the creative voices of Alexandria teens at the Teen Poetry Circle Reading from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center.
