Alexandrians turned in 195 pounds of expired or unwanted medications at the last Drug Take Back day. Alexandria Police and Sheriff staffed four drop off locations as part of the nationwide initiative on October 27 organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

For those who missed this event, the Neighborhood Pharmacy, 2204 Mt. Vernon Avenue, also has a permanent drop box available during business hours. Deputies collected another 100 pounds of medication from that box in addition to what was turned in for the Drug Take Back.
