Betsy Grady started painting historic homes in Old Town four years ago, and now she’s holding exhibitions! In fact, her latest will be held at Local Colour Gallery and Boutique on Friday, March 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“I knew I could paint and I thought I should start doing this,” Grady told The Zebra. “It’s very relaxing and a great escape from real estate to focus on painting.”

Grady’s work has been featured on the cover of Long and Foster’s 2019 calendar, and she is currently selling homes by day, and painting a commission for a wine label in Napa Valley, Calif., and at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in her off-hours.
Grady painted in her youth and took art classes in college, but it wasn’t until her child was fully grown that she looked back on a life spent working hard raising a family and not pursuing art.
“You get into your 30s and 40s and career mode, but I didn’t feel like I had time,” she said. “So now, I will work during the day and then paint two or three nights a week from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.”
The show will include recent work, and those who attend will receive a calendar with Grady’s painting on the cover, and the event will include a raffle for a free painting.
