Volunteers Prepare for Community Service Day

Over 20 Projects in One Day!
By Mary Wadland
ALEXANDRIA,VA- Volunteer Alexandria, in partnership with the City of Alexandria, will host its annual Spring for Alexandria Community Service Day on Friday, May 17, starting at 12:30 pm. Citizens and businesses alike are encouraged to join us on this annual day of service.
“Spring for Alexandria is a fantastic opportunity for both the City and the local private sector to join together to complete projects that benefit our shared community. For many years, the City has partnered with Volunteer Alexandria to help our non-profits and city agencies complete projects in one day, instead of waiting for the resources for months and/or years. The City of Alexandria is a wonderful place to live, work, play and on this day–give,” suggested Deputy City Manager Debra Collins.
During this incredible day, hundreds of volunteers come together as individuals and teams to complete more than 20 service projects for nonprofits across the City. From building vegetable gardens and sorting food at our local food bank to alleviate food insecurity, to painting shelters and clubs, every hour contributed to this Community Service Day improves the lives of Alexandrians.
