Volunteers Needed for 31st Annual Clean the Bay Day

More than 6,000 people took part in Clean the Bay Day at 250 sites last year, and collected more than 134,000 pounds of debris and trash.

Alexandria, VA – It’s almost time to get the plastic gloves and garbage bags, because the 31st annual Clean The Bay Day is approaching! Thousands of participants will gather to pick up trash all along the Eastern Shore to the Blue Ridge Mountains to Oronoco Bay Park and Historic Holmes Run.

Volunteers are needed and the cleanup will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. More than 6,000 people took part in Clean the Bay Day at 250 sites last year, and collected more than 134,000 pounds of debris and trash.

The shoreline cleanup is led by the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services (T&ES), Stormwater Management Division and Resource Recovery Division with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
