ALEXANDRIA, VA – As our community moves toward the next phase of reopening, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued guidelines concerning public travel modes.

A theme throughout the guidelines is practicing good hand hygiene. People should avoid touching surfaces when possible and if on a bus, open windows to increase ventilation.

Face coverings are required by law. Exceptions are in place for children two years of age or younger, when eating or drinking, and in circumstances where a person has a medical condition that interferes with breathing.

Maintaining a distance of six feet from others is highly advised.

The CDC recommends travelling only when necessary. Staying at home and away from others is still the best way to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Information is included in the guidelines for public transit workers. To read the entire document, click HERE.
