Alexandria, VA – Support the at The Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull to raise money for the Special Olympics. Start with the Run the Runway competition in the early morning, the Plane Pull and Kid’s Pull competitions throughout the day, and a whole lot of food, games, exhibitions, and live music in between.
Join a team or cheer from the sidelines for the strongest minute on the runway as teams of 25 attempt to pull an 82-ton FedEx Airbus A320 or Unite Boeing 757 airplane 12 feet in record time.
Plane Pull
Think you’ve got what it takes? Sign up and put your team’s determination to the test. All you need is 25 people who can raise $2,500 as a team to qualify for entry. Awards are handed out for fastest pull, heaviest team, most money raised, and more.
Kid’s Pull
Got a little one who wants to show off her muscles and raise money too? In the Kid’s Pull, teams compete to see who can pull a big red dump truck, provided by 123JUNK, 12 feet the fastest.
Want to pull? It’s $10/child and you can register online here (coming soon), or at the event on event day, starting at 11:30 a.m. All participants get a Kid’s Pull t-shirt.
Relax in the Kid’s Zone. Whether your kids are competing or just coming out to play, there’s a Kid’s Zone with a bounce house, games, music, and a dunk tank for all-day fun.
Dulles 5K/10K
The Dulles 5K/10K is the flattest, fastest race in the beltway. Dulles Airport’s runway is shut down for an early morning run where 2,500 runners compete in either a 5K or a 10K category.
There are water stations available throughout the course to stay hydrated, and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Virginia, the Committee for Dulles Community, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the Washington Airports Task Force.

Air & Car Shows
Bring the kids out to get an up-close tour of vintage planes and modern aircraft. Meet the pilots and even climb into the cockpit to experience the view firsthand! Check out the current list of planes coming to the 2019 show.
There’s also an awesome collection of classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles on display at the Dulles Day Car & Bike Show. Admission is free to the public, and visitors can help vote for overall winners in several different categories.
