Alexandria, VA – A picture, as they say, is worth a thousand words. The City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities (RPCA) is on the lookout for a photograph that conveys their mission to “enrich the City of Alexandria by creating meaningful experiences through public space, cultural activities, and programming.”

You know what that means! Time to break out your cameras to take original, high resolution photographs taken at any City of Alexandria RPCA park, center, program, or event. Don’t worry if you aren’t a professional photographer. The contest is open to the public, except for Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities employees and their immediate families.

Submissions will be accepted between Sept. 13 and Oct. 15, and must be submitted before 11:59 pm on Oct. 15 to be considered. There will be prizes awarded for each category: “Parks”, “Recreation”, and “Cultural Activities”, as well as one lucky “grand prize winner”. All winning photographs will be displayed on the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities website and at various recreation centers, and all winning photographers will receive an award certificate in addition to their prize.

Get out there, explore our lovely city, snap some photographs and best of luck to all you photographers, amateur and professional!

Read all the rules and regulations on the City of Alexandria website.
