Browne Academy Receives Purple Star School Designation
Alexandria VA – Browne Academy has received the Virginia Purple Star Designation, which is awarded by the Virginia Department of Education to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.
John Bonhom, Browne’s director of admission and enrollment management, serves as the point of contact for the school’s military families. He works closely with the school’s counselor and division heads to support military children with concerns about transitioning to a new school, apprehension during a parent’s deployment, as well as other related military life/student life questions.
The school’s Student Ambassadors serve on the transition team for military families, assisting with open house tours and helping prospective students during their shadow days in class. Browne’s Parents Association offers volunteer and social opportunities for military families to become easily involved with the school and community.
To further support its military families, Browne Academy also participates in the Child Care Aware® of America Fee Assistance Program. Through Child Care Aware, military families may qualify for fee assistance for Browne’s preschool. –
