ALEXANDRIA, VA — RUN! GEEK! RUN!, one of Alexandria’s favorite annual 5K races and 1-mile fun runs, has announced that its 2026 beneficiary will be The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA). The 19th annual race will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

Each year, RUN! GEEK! RUN! chooses a different local nonprofit to support. Last year’s event raised an impressive $48,800 for Senior Services of Alexandria — and organizers hope to surpass that number in 2026.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria this year,” said Rita Foss, Race Director for RUN! GEEK! RUN!. “RUN! GEEK! RUN! is committed to supporting our local community, and the SFA’s mission of making college accessible for every deserving student is deeply inspiring. Last year, we were honored to present our beneficiary, Senior Services of Alexandria, with more than $48,000. Our goal for the 2026 race is to rally the community and our sponsors to beat that number and make an even greater impact for the students supported by the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.”

Founded in 1986, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria helps academically qualified Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) students with financial need access and complete postsecondary education through renewable, four-year scholarships. Since its inception, SFA has awarded $22 million in scholarships to nearly 6,000 students.

“We are so incredibly excited and grateful to have been selected as the beneficiary for RUN! GEEK! RUN!’s 2026 event,” said Jasmine Milone, Executive Director of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. “This partnership will provide a great benefit for our mission, allowing us to award additional, essential, postsecondary scholarships. Every dollar raised directly supports ACPS students in realizing their dreams of higher education, and we look forward to cheering on every runner and ‘geek’ on September 27th!”

RUN! GEEK! RUN! was first launched in 2008 and has become a community staple, celebrating fitness, technology, and philanthropy. To date, the event has awarded more than $282,000 to local nonprofits.
