Alexandria, VA – Most people know I’m not a chain restaurant fan except when it comes to fast, casual food. I was misled by the ubiquitous burgers and fountain drinks. It’s time to forget all the that and head over to Ted’s Montana Grill, 2451 Eisenhower Ave. Ted’s features beef, bison, and vegetarian burgers plus a nice selection of poultry, seafood, bison and beef steaks for lunch and dinner daily.
Ted’s sources his premium ingredients and produce from local and regional farms including Hummingbird Farm, Adams Family Farm, Turner Ranches, Great Range Bison, and Parker Farms. Ted’s goal today is to respect the land, to preserve the bison, and to support the ranchers who connect it all. Their bison is ranch-raised, American grown for a rich, leaner, and tender meat.
Try the Bison Nachos covered with pepper jack, bison chili, and fresh toppings. It’s a huge platter that’s easily shared by four or more. There are beautiful entrée salads with a variety of toppings. Like the Balsamic Blue Steak with sirloin, romaine, iceberg, organic spring mix, cucumber, blue cheese, bacon, vine-ripened tomato, topped with a balsamic reduction and onion straws. The Big Sky Grilled includes the usual greens plus bacon, cheddar, egg, avocado, and croutons. Top it with grilled chicken, cedar plank salmon, or a bison or beef burger to really bling it out. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans too. Ask your server to omit the meat and/or cheese.
Burgers abound on the menu. Each is available in beef or bison. Bison is a leaner, more tender meat with a slight sweet taste. Most everyone at the table preferred the bison to beef! I was lucky enough to get the Big Burger, a beef burger (bison is an option) topped with braised bison brisket (killer delicious), and topped with a horseradish sauce. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans too including the House-made Veggie Burger made with lettuce, tomato roasted garlic aioli on a cracked wheat bun.
Try the all-natural Roast Half Chicken, glazed with cranberries, and infused with Sam Adams, garlic, and served with rosemary garlic mashed potatoes and Parmesan roasted broccoli. The Salt and Pepper Trout is accompanied by a roasted corn and tomato salsa, and a kale salad with vine-ripened tomatoes. The fish is tender, moist, and flavorful.
It’s definitely a must go-to!
