OCTOBER’S IMPRESSIVE ROSTER ON LIVING ON MUSIC

October on Z-TV’s Living On Music has yet another incredible roster of artists and even a conversation with the founder as well as the longtime gig booker of one of DC’s most revered venues, The Birchmere.

Go to this link every Monday at 7pm to find the live link and all past shows: https://www.facebook.com/TheZebraPress. Here’s the October rundown from host/producer Steve Houk.

OCTOBER 5TH MARLAIN ANGELIDES

Sure, Marlain Angelides is an internationally known, award-winning singer who a few years back was lead vocalist of Greek pop superstars Hi-5, and is currently front woman for the world renowned all-female Led Zeppelin tribute experience Lez Zeppelin. But throughout her astonishing career, she has done much more than that, as an accomplished actress appearing in musicals and dramas in London and New York City, a vocal artist who has done translation roles for Disney films, and a singer/songwriter for the prog style metal project Ascending Dawn. Oh yeah, right now she’s working on her first solo EP, which will explore the electronica vibe. Yes…that’s Marlain.  https://www.marlainangel.com/

OCTOBER 12TH SOL ROOTS

Sol Roots’ talent stretches from fiery rock to laid back jazz, from funky innovative grooves to soulful ballads, drawing on a deep background in raw down-home blues. The Sol Roots Band performs a mix of New Orleans funk, raw blues, energetic rock, deep grooves, and southern soul. Sol has performed on stage and collaborated in the studio with blues heavyweights like Taj Mahal, Kenny Wayne Shepard and Cool John Ferguson and opened for stalwarts like B.B. King, The Derek Trucks Band and others. Sol’s roots run deep into the blues, but his unique versatility has allowed him to gig with Latin, African, reggae, gospel, jazz, R&B, and folk performers. https://solrootsmusic.com/home

OCTOBER 19TH A CHAT WITH THE BIRCHMERE

The Birchmere has been a music-centered institution for decades, revered not only in the DC area but nationwide as one of the great music venues anywhere. Original Birchmere founder Gary Oelze and booking master Michael Jaworek will join Living On Music for a look at the past, present and future of the legendary Birchmere, and what’s in store for the storied venue after surviving, at least for now, the impact of the pandemic. https://www.birchmere.com/

OCTOBER 26TH BOBBY THOMPSON

With a brand new self-titled album coming out this month that he produced himself, Bobby Thompson continues to solidify himself as a premiere blues rock songwriter, performer and bandleader. Thompson won a 2018 WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Association award) for best blues album, and although there are always strong overtones of the blues in his style, he sees himself essentially as a folk-blues singer/songwriter. “Blues music and folk music are close relatives,” Thompson reiterates, “and that’s the tradition I want to continue in with my songwriting and my performance.”  http://www.bobbytmusic.net/
