Large Refrigerated Container Donated to ALIVE!
Thanks to a big donation from Abilene Motor Express, Richmond VA, and AMX Leasing, ALIVE! received a refrigerated container!
Alexandria, VA – Alexandria’s ALIVE! food pantry is giving away 100,000 pounds of food a month right now versus 30,000 a month pre-COVID. Thanks to a big donation from Abilene Motor Express, Richmond VA, and AMX Leasing, they just added a $12,000 refrigerated container to their arsenal.
“Marion came to us and asked, ‘What do you need?’ and we replied, ‘Refrigeration,’ and Marion delivered,’” said ALIVE! Executive Director Jennifer Ayers. “Marion saw a need for us to have the right tools to expand our operations to serve more Alexandrian’s in need.”
The shipping container was transported to Alexandria Renew at 1800 Limerick Street, who as offered to keep it there, and provides ALIVE! with extra storage.
Abilene Motor Express has not been adversely affected by the pandemic. It put them in a good position with ALIVE board member Marion Moon contacted them for the donation. “When Marion reached out with the opportunity to help others we were more than happy to help,” said Alan K. Jones of Abiline Motors.
