ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) continues to give free books to students. The latest book giveaway happened this morning at Patrick Henry Elementary School.

Thanks to grant from the Reading Is Fundamental program, staff presented students in kindergarten through the fifth grade with 1,000 free books!

“In normal times, the students parade around the neighborhood in costume, this year the school wanted to make sure the students did not miss out,” wrote ACPS Communications Specialist Julie Allen to The Zebra.

Every staff member, including Principal Ingrid Bynum, dressed as their favorite book character for the occasion.

“I like reading because it makes me smart and makes me happy,” said third grader Solome Daniel.
