ALEXANDRIA, VA – All Luis Vasquez wanted was to grab some dinner. The Manassas man was working construction in the Alexandria area, so he stopped at Mama’s Chicken at 6257 Little River Turnpike.

While he was there, he bought some Virginia Lottery tickets and scratched them in the store. When he scratched his Lucky 7s Tripler ticket, he discovered he’d won the $177,777 top prize.

“I got nervous,” he later said. “I couldn’t believe it! I told my wife, and she couldn’t believe it either.

Mr. Vasquez bought the fourth and final top prize in Lucky 7s Tripler (game #1996), which means the game is closed. It is the Virginia Lottery’s policy to end Scratcher games after the final top prize is claimed. The odds of winning the top prize were 1 in 1,040,400, while the odds of winning any prize were 1 in 4.21.
