ALEXANDRIA, VA – Halloween is around the corner. Though there aren’t as many events as usual to celebrate, the Carlyle Vitality Initiative is organizing a fun, safe, and free event to help residents get into the Halloween spirit.

On Friday, Oct. 30, Carlyle’s “Halloween Festivities Farmer’s Market & Concert” will take place at John Carlyle Park. Shop at the Carlyle Farmer’s Market from 2-7 p.m. and stay for live music from 5-7:30 p.m. Jesters to the Left is on the bill. Get ready for a mix of classic rock, blues, and rockabilly.

There will be trick-or-treating on site so kids will be able to take candy home. Bring your already-carved pumpkin to enter it in the Pumpkin Carving Challenge. Don’t have one? That’s okay. Visit the farmer’s market a week earlier on Oct. 23 and you can purchase a pumpkin from Lopez Farm.

Prizes for the top three Jack-O’-Lanterns will be presented.

  • 1st Place: $100 voucher towards any pre-order purchase at the 2020 Carlyle Holiday Market
  • 2nd Place: $50 voucher towards any pre-order purchase at the 2020 Carlyle Holiday Market
  • 3rd Place: $25 voucher towards any pre-order purchase at the 2020 Carlyle Holiday Market

Prize Vouchers will be distributed by the CVI Event Coordination Staff and will be redeemed from Friday, Nov. 27 to Friday, Dec. 4 on the Carlyle Holiday Market Pre-Order Platform only.

Organizers want attendees to bring face masks and to remember to follow social distancing guidelines. Kids: Don’t forget to wear your costumes!

“Halloween Festivities Farmer’s Market & Concert” is sponsored by the Carlyle Vitality Initiative: City of Alexandria, The Carlyle Council, and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership.

Those interested can pre-order farmer’s market items from vendors HERE. John Carlyle Park is located at 300 John Carlyle Street. For complete event details, visit the eventbrite page HERE.
