Alexandria, VA – Alexandria Restaurant Partners (ARP) announced today the beginning of a renovation program for Joe Theismann’s Restaurant. Launched in 1975, Theismann’s serves diverse clientele. It is a fine-dining establishment, neighborhood gathering spot, and sports-watching venue. In 2018, ARP bought an equity interest in the restaurant from Theismann.

“I am thrilled to share this new refresh of Theismann’s with the next generation of Alexandrians and area visitors,” said the legendary Redskins quarterback.

When the renovation kicks off this week, Theismann’s will launch a ‘pop-up bar’ and dining area, where customers can enjoy their favorite menu items and happy hour specials.

Upon completion, the 7,800 square-foot space will feature a casual, modern, and energetic design.

The renovation will include a new island bar, adding 20 draft beer taps. The menu will also evolve. Besides their classic burgers and steaks, Theismann’s will have items like beef short ribs, pan-seared salmon, and Southern fried chicken.

“Our focus is to continually give loyal customers a quality experience,” said Scott Shaw of ARP, “while we introduce ourselves to a new generation of diners who seek restaurants that have an energetic vibe and that will offer great [gametime] viewing options for those special sports moments.”

In mid-September, the new and improved Theismann’s will throw a huge party to celebrate the 100th season of the NFL and Joe Theismann’s 70th birthday.
