Watch Del Ray’s Virtual Christmas Tree Lighting This Sunday, December 6

Alexandria, VA — It’s the most wonderful time of the year: the lighting of the annual Christmas tree in Pat Miller Square in Del Ray. Unfortunately, we cannot have the crowds of yesteryear around the tree in person, but we can try to gather them around the 2020 Livestreaming Del Ray Tree Lighting Event.

The 2019 Del Ray Tree Lighting drew a festive crowd. This year, we hope to draw a bigger crowd virtually. You can help us! (Courtesy photo)

Pandemic or not, visitdelray.com and Z-TV with the Zebra Press are bringing Del Ray’s annual Christmas tree lighting into your home.

The livestream celebration will feature a musical performance by the Alexandria Singers, an appearance by Santa, and, of course, a countdown to the tree lighting! This family-friendly show will be available on the Zebra’s website – get your free ticket now and watch through the provided link on December 6.

In the spirit of the season, the Del Ray Business Association will collect toiletries for Carpenter’s Shelter, a local nonprofit that helps the homeless achieve sustainable independence through shelter, guidance, education, and advocacy. Needed supplies include unscented lotion, deodorant, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Donations will be collected from Sat., Dec. 5-25 at designated bins along Mount Vernon Avenue; for locations, visit visitdelray.com/holiday.

We hope to see you at the virtual lighting! Click here to register.
