Not Your Typical Morning Toast at Toastique in Old Town Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Although I was still in my pajamas, I felt so fancy this weekend eating my enchanting take-out breakfast from Toastique, a restaurant I have been reading about in the Alexandria Curbside Dining Facebook Group.

I loved the name of the restaurant and their website showed such pretty dishes, I was intrigued.  They have quite a few acai bowls on their menu, which I would normally gravitate toward, but I decided to try a “toast” since it’s in the establishment’s name.

YUM!!! I am so glad I went with the PB Crunch!  I couldn’t believe how beautifully arranged it was-and this was carry out!  I almost didn’t want to start eating it because it was so pretty.  But once I began, I couldn’t stop.  My daughter kept eyeing it as well and asked for a bite, so I reluctantly shared some.

The attractive, open-faced peanut butter and jelly was packed with fruit and a decadent granola on top of a honey roasted peanut butter and berry jam.  There was one sprig of mint that brought it all together. Oh, and the toast was walnut raisin…I would SO get this again.

I also sampled their Balance juice.  This healthy blend definitely had a kick from the ginger and lemon. Next time I order from there I will try more of their juices as well as their popular Iced Brew that consists of coffee, banana, date, almond milk and your choice of peanut or almond butter.

Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the Alexandria area.  My husband’s only complaint was he had to wait awhile for the order to be prepared.  Next time we’ll order ahead.

Toastique is founded on gourmet toast (including the all time-favorite original avocado toast) and healthy alternatives. It is located at 1605 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Open daily 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  To see and order from the menu, click here.
