FREE ZOOM LECTURE SERIES: Dr. Susan Strasser Discusses Black History
ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Alexandria Community Remembrance Project invites residents to take part in a free lecture series through Zoom about Black History. The series, hosted by historian Dr. Susan Stasser and covering four areas, is titled “A White Woman Reads Black History.”
Taking place from March to June, specific dates and subjects follow:
March 20, 2021 at 1 p.m. – Slavery
April 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. – Lynching with poet Marcia Cole
May 15, 2021 at 1 p.m. – Voting Rights
June 12, 2021 at 1 p.m. – Residential Segregation

Each lecture is one hour long with a 10-mute break at the halfway point. Afterward, Strasser will converse with attendees and answer questions.
Strasser is Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians. Her writing has been praised by The New Yorker, and her books include “Satisfaction Guaranteed: The Making of the American Mass Market.” She is Richards Professor Emerita of American History at the University of Delaware.
