ALEXANDRIA, VA-Christian Thomas is a student at West Potomac Academy. Since winning Burke & Herbert Bank’s local “Lights! Camera! Save!” video contest, he has been named a national finalist. Thomas’ 30-second video focuses on the importance of monitoring expenses to reach financial goals. He used visual examples to engage a teenage audience.

“All of us at Burke & Herbert Bank are thrilled that Christian is being recognized for finding such a creative and effective way to share valuable savings lessons with his peers,” said Executive Vice President Terry Cole. “We hope everyone in northern Virginia will take a few minutes out of their day to support a local student and cast their vote for Christian Thomas.”

Viewers can vote beginning March 23 through the American Bankers Association Instagram page. The next rounds will take place on March 24 and 25 with the winner announced on March 26.

As one of eight finalists, Thomas will compete for various prizes, including the $5,000 grand prize.

This year, 133 students from 47 states participated in the contest, which teaches the value of sound money management. Burke & Herbert Bank selected entries from Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William.
