Alexandria, VA – A La Lucia, a traditional Italian restaurant at 315 Madison Street, opened in 2004 and has been an integral part of the Old Town North neighborhood ever since. Chef and Owner Michael Nayeri has always strived to “focus on the community.” He acquires his goods straight from the Old Town North Farmer’s Market, supporting local vendors and selecting the finest ingredients.
When the effects of COVID-19 hurt both his restaurant and his staff, the Old Town North community returned Michael’s constant focus and support. “I am so grateful for the support we have received from our loyal customers in Alexandria,” says Chef Michael.
To adapt to a new normal in this COVID-19 era, A La Lucia shifted from full-service lunch and dinner to only evening service with pre-order and pick up, limiting table seating both inside and out. Chef Michael hopes to reintroduce limited lunch service in May, and will be offering a 25% discount on select menu items during the Reimagined Taste of Old Town North. That’s right! A La Lucia is one of the local businesses joining in the 2021 Taste.
On the quaint north-east corner of Madison and Royal Streets, A La Lucia looks out onto the Alexandria House Park. As the weather warms and hope rises, it is a joy to look out and see the dogs and their owners walking in the park or sitting quietly and watching the world go by. It is a subtle reminder of the way the community has always surrounded and supported A La Lucia.
