Taste of Del Ray Goes Curbside!
Top area restaurants are slated to participate in the 12th Annual Taste of Del Ray, read about how you can join in the fun!
Alexandria, VA – Top area restaurants are slated to participate in the 12th Annual Taste of Del Ray. The event, named one of Virginia Living Magazine’s top food festivals, will shift to a weekend-long take-out format from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 6.
“Our restaurants have been through so much this year,” said Del Ray Business Association President Lauren Fisher. “This year’s Taste of Del Ray is an incredible opportunity to both rally around our restaurants and to highlight the incredible culinary talent and resilience in the Del Ray community.”
The new format complies with current social distancing restrictions. “We are not at a point to offer large-scale events, and restaurants are financially unable to donate their tastes,” said event chairman Karen Johnson. “So this year, restaurants are welcoming and enticing participants with delicious tastes as menu specials for the entire weekend. And just like our traditional Taste of Del Ray, we all get to vote for our favorite.”
Throughout the weekend, each participating restaurant will offer participants up to three select “tastes” for just $5 each. Restaurants are also encouraged to offer cocktail pairings to complement their dishes.
“We’re looking forward to the return of The Taste of Del Ray,” said Jeff Wallingford, owner of Taqueria Poblano, a festival favorite. “To me, it reflects the spirit of Del Ray — our restaurants & our neighbors coming together to celebrate what an incredible community we have here.”
Online registration for the event is just $5 and includes the exclusive menu of available tastes and specialty cocktails and a ballot for the People’s Choice Award. For registration information, go to visitdelray.com.
