Landmark Mall to Become New Inova Campus
ALEXANDRIA, VA—The old Landmark Mall property will become a new Creative Campus for Inova Health System. The 52 acre unoccupied property will be home to an inpatient hospital—with patient care clinical programs, a larger emergency room, a trauma center, a neuroscience practice office, and a brain health center—a cancer center, a medical office building, a parking center, residential properties, and green spaces.
The new Creative Campus will also incorporate public use spaces like pedestrian and bike paths, residential communities, greenery, and even multiple bus lines.
The design of the new facility is focused on ease of use by patients and accessibility by all Alexandrians.
Dr. Rina Bansal, President of Inova Alexandria, states, “What drives our daily discussions around this [project] is how do we make this facility patient-centered, patient friendly, and provide a level of care on an inpatient setting.”
Nicholas Beeson, Director of Acquisitions at Foulger-Pratt, adds, “We are creating this new vision with a diverse range of uses, including housing opportunities, like rental and for sale housing, condos, townhomes, as well as retail, commercial, and entertainment venues. This campus will be an integrated and cohesive neighborhood.
The entire Creative Campus is thorough in considering the needs of the greater Alexandria community. This new design will allow Inova to serve more Alexandrians than ever before, and in a greater capacity than ever before.
“We are in early design, but are incorporating some unique features to the buildings,” explains Tom McDuffe, President of Inova Reality.
The Creative Campus is projected to be complete by 2028. The old Inova Alexandria hospital property off of Semiary Road will become housing and will go up for sale in late 2027.
“We are excited to be able to deliver a dynamic community here for all of Alexandria and all visitors to the site,” concludes Beeson. “We are excited to partner with Inova and the City of Alexandria.”
