ALEXANDRIA, VA – The City of Alexandria’s historic Old Town Farmers’ Market will host its Spring Kickoff on Saturday, May 4, from 7 a.m. to noon, at Market Square (301 King St.). The Kickoff marks a four-month-long season during which the nation’s most historic farmers’ market hosts the widest variety of vendors of the whole year.

The Kickoff ushers in the return of favorite warm-weather vendors and the addition of new ones, each offering locally-sourced products including produce, breads, meats, art, flowers and prepared food. The event will also feature entertainment for the entire family and free Old Town Farmers’ Market-branded items, including t-shirts, reusable canvas grocery bags, and bumper stickers.

The live entertainment schedule includes:

  • Group yoga: 8-8:45 a.m.
  • Face painting: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Balloon artist: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Live music: 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The Old Town Farmers’ Market is the nation’s oldest farmers’ market held continuously at the same site, and one of the many vibrant neighborhood hubs for Alexandria residents and visitors alike. The market’s location in the heart of Old Town means shoppers will also encounter unique shops, boutiques and restaurants, all housed in architecture reminiscent of the neighborhood’s colonial past.

Free parking is available in the Market Square Garage (entrance 108 N. Fairfax St.) from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Market days. Additional garage and street parking is available within a short walk from the Market. For more information on where to park in Old Town, visit alexandriava.gov/Parking.
