Alexandria, VA – A “Key” Celebration of France at Mount Vernon

George Washington received the key to France’s Bastille prison from an appreciative Marquis de Lafayette in 1790. It remains at Mount Vernon.
The newly restored Lafayette Room at George Washington’s Mount Vernon is the culmination of a multi-year project to recover the room’s multilayered history and appearance.
