Enlist in Fort Ward’s Civil War Kids Camp or The Lyceum’s History Camp for Kids!

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Registration is now open for Fort Ward’s Civil War Kids Camp! Children ages 8 to 12 will learn about life during the Civil War at this fun and educational history camp sponsored by Fort Ward Museum. The Camp runs from June 24 to 28, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.  The registration fee is $250 per child. Space is limited so register early.  Federal employees should contact the Museum for information about a discount rate and deferred payment.

Camp activities include learning about Civil War drills, music, equipment and army shelter, playing 19th-century games, craft projects like making a Civil War fort, and interacting with guest reenactors. A kids’ tour of Fort Ward is also featured.

Registration Open for The Lyceum’s History Camp for Kids

Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum is now accepting registrations for a three-day camp for children ages 5 through 7. Clio’s Kids Mini-Camp engages children in American history and life in historic Alexandria through artifacts, storytelling, singing, crafts, old-fashioned games, and visits to nearby historic places. Clio’s Kids runs from Tuesday July 16 through Thursday July 18 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The theme this year is ‘To and Fro and Away We Go!’ Your kids learn about transportation in and around Alexandria in the past and today, focusing on different aspects of transportation and travel each day of camp.

Clio’s Kids Mini-Camp, ‘To and Fro and Away We Go!’ will be held at Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum, 201 South Washington Street. The cost is $115, which includes snacks and souvenirs. Advance registration is required.
