ALEXANDRIA, VA – “Aime mon vin” is French for “love my wine”!

If that describes you, get ready to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day. It is always celebrated on the third Thursday in November, with this year’s date falling on November 17th.

“Glasses are raised across the world to mark the first and fastest wine of the 2022 harvest,” according to Wickham Wine.

Alexandrians are cordially invited to come to the Beaujolais Soiree at 7pm at The Lloyd House at 220 N. Washington Street. As more and more people are emerging from the pandemic and becoming more involved in community and civic events, the evening promises to be the perfect opportunity for dressing up and getting out of the house. The event is a great opportunity for Alexandria to learn more about the sister city mission and learn about the friendship between the two cities. If you’re a Francophile and/or wine or foodie, this is an event for you.

Delight yourself to a splendid evening with food and a wine-tasting tour through select regions of France. Experience superb wines including effervescent sparkling wine, crisp white wine, a bold red wine, and the 2022 Beaujolais Nouveau – the star of the evening!

French Chef and Culinary Instructor Hugh Cossard of FoodExpression will be leading food enthusiasts through a tour of French charcuterie, cheeses, and other delicacies. Cossard works closely with the French Embassy in D.C. A real French person is making pâté for the event. Marc Lotterie of Elite Wines, a second-generation wine expert, will be leading the wine tasting and providing special tips on fine wine selection.

The Beaujolais Nouveau Party is just one of the many events that the Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee orchestrates over the course of the year. Other activities include: an annual D-Day commemorative event in Old Town; a lecture series; and student exchanges.

Tickets are $55, include a special gift, and can be purchased here. Cocktail attire is suggested. This is a 21 and over event. [SEE ALSO: U.S. and Danish Air Force Bands Celebrate Partnership with Joint Concert in Alexandria]
