George Washington’s Birthday at His Mount Vernon Estate

Alexandria, VA – Festivities marking George Washington’s Birthday at his home at Mount Vernon included free admission on both February 20 and 22, a concert on the Bowling Green by The Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps (which recalled the first public celebration of Washington’s birthday in 1778 when the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard surprised Gen. Washington with musical performance), a wreath-laying at Washington’s Tomb, and a Naturalization Ceremony for new citizens.
