Alexandria Dining: Paradiso Italian Restaurant Closing After 30 Years and Passing Torch to Next Generation
ALEXANDRIA, VA – If you have been a fan of the home-style Italian cooking coming out of the family-run kitchen at Paradiso Italian Restaurant at 6124 Franconia Road, you have tonight and tomorrow night to grab one of your favorite appetizers, pizzas or entrees.
The restaurant, which opened in 1991 in the Fairfax County part of Alexandria, posted their closing plans just 11 hours ago on social media.
The family plans to reopen as La Fiamma, passing the torch to the new generation, sometime in mid-November. Menu favorites are likely to stick around but expect updated cuisine and new twists on old classics. Nancy Lisi, a local musician, replied to the family’s post right away, “Where will we go for lunch now??? Or Sunday breakfast buffet? Thank you for supporting the music scene for so many years.”
Many people commented about the kids section and how they loved sitting at the bar while children played, wondering if the new restaurant would still accommodate families that way. Paradiso responded immediately, “Yes! Definitely. We don’t know if we’ll be able to open up [the kids section] in November with COVID, but it will still be there.
