Free Fun for the Whole Family: YMCA Alexandria Celebrates Healthy Kids Day April 29

ALEXANDRIA, VA–The YMCA Alexandria (420 E. Monroe Ave.) is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Day April 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. . This free, annual event features family-friendly activities to encourage kids and their families to stay healthy.

“At the Y, we believe in providing resources to families to ensure that their children have access to what they need to reach their full potential, no matter the time of year,” said Kristy McCarron, VP of Community Health and Wellness for the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington.

Come meet firefighters and check out a fire truck, get your face painted, and create something new in the STEAM Maker Space. Enjoy Family Zumba, Family Swim (1-3p.m.), and a Doggie Parade (12:30-1p.m.).  Eat fresh fruit courtesy of the American Heart Association Giant Pharmacy workers will be in attendance with the latest info about important vaccines.

Parents can also learn about summer camp offerings, childcare, sports teams, and programs designed to help kids stay healthy all year.  Everyone is welcome, but members of the community should register in advance.  Doing so helps YMCA staff make sure there are plenty of snacks and prizes to go around, so register HERE.
