Call Your Mother Deli Hopes to Call 1300 King Street New Home in Alexandria
The well known bagel bakery and sandwich shop plans to open in Alexandria
Alexandria, VA – According to paperwork recently filed with the City of Alexandria, Call Your Mother Deli is planning to open a small deli at 1300 King Street selling their famous bagels accompanied by coffee drinks, other menu items, and branded merchandise.
The application for the permit gives the basics including their planned hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and what to expect in terms of atmosphere and service. Customers will order at the front counter, and take items to go or eat at one of the 34 table seats or 27 bar stools.
Zebra readers may recall we reported two years ago that Call Your Mother planned to open at 128 N. Pitt. We hope this time everything works out.
The deli is well known in the area for their variety of bagels and bagel sandwiches. The bagels are vegetarian as they don’t contain dairy or eggs but are not vegan because they contain honey. According to their website, their bagels are “somewhere between a classic NY-style bagel and the sweeter, Montreal-style bagels from our friends up North.”
All bagels are made in-house and the company sources other products such as salmon and whitefish from Logan Sausage, Liberty Delights, and Z&Z.
The proposed location at 1300 King Street is in a first floor retail spot at The Braystone, a multi-family, mixed use building of condominiums. The 4-story building is sandwiched around two historic buildings on the corner of S. Payne and King Streets.
Call Your Mother was started by chef owners Daniela Moreira and Andrew Dana, who began their wild and wonderful journey at farmer’s markets in DC. “After opening our flagship shop in Park View in the Fall of 2018, it was clear that folks in our community needed MORE CARBS! Since then, we’ve assembled a dream team and opened up several new locations throughout DC, Maryland and alllll the way across the country in Denver, Colorado!. We’re on a mission to spread #bagellove to everyone with an appetite and our next stop might be your back yard (figuratively speaking)!”
