Lee Fendall House’s Sips and Secrets Speakeasy FUNdraiser Soirees On
Alexandria, VA – Fans and friends of the historic Lee-Fendall House Museum and Garden faithfully donned their finest flapper beads and fedoras, dancing the Charleston and the night away to support the nonprofit organization that stewards the care and curation of the mansion and grounds. The annual Sips and Secrets event is a nod to the Prohibition-era legacy of the Old Town home as one of Alexandria’s liquor wholesalers — and reputedly bootlegging too. Funds raised by this engaging event help sustain the stellar efforts of event chair Megan Ritter Judt and the dynamic new executive director Shawn Eyer toward preservation, education, and community engagement.
Live jazz by Accidental Red beckoned speakeasiers to the dance floor as the evening kicked off with tipsy two-stepping lessons from Fidgety Feet. Rocklands, Bittersweet, and MB Bakery fueled the fun while creative cocktails kept the party lively — and dancing!
Fall festivities are in full swing at the Lee-Fendall House. You might be tempted to call it Lee-FUNdall. There’s always something not to be missed happening for all ages. If you skipped the popular Grief and Ghost tours last month, check the calendar of upcoming educational exhibits, themed history tours, and family-fare events at leefendallhouse.org. You’ll have a historied good time!
