Free Event: Alexandria Health Department Co-hosting Men’s Health Expo June 8

ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Alexandria Health Department is co-hosting the Men’s Health Empowerment Expo on Saturday, June 8 at Charles Houston Rec Center (901 Wythe St.) The free four-hour event is from 10 am to 2 pm.

“As men, our health is critical,” said AHD Director Dr. David Rose. “But often, men do not have the resources and assistance we need to meet our own health goals. I invite Alexandria men to join me at the Men’s Health Empowerment Expo and leave the day with the tools we need to lead long, healthy lives.”

The expo makes health and vision screenings available, along with HIV testing . Boxercise and healthy cooking demonstrations will also take place.

The day also welcomes guest speakers such as former APD Chief Don Hayes  and Pastor Lou Whiting of My Father’s House Christian Church International. The scheduled keynote speaker is Wes Hall, the host of “Wizards Pregame Live” on Monumental Sports Network. A panel discussion focuses on the importance of men’s health.

Fellow hosts include: Alexandria Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Activities, Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Beulah Baptist Church, Capital Youth Empowerment Program, Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria, and My Father’s Christian Church International
